Case study · sen.help

A whole platform, one designer, an AI workforce.

SEN Help is a UK platform for parents of children with special educational needs: guides, a diagnostic quiz, data products and a verified directory of independent professionals. To be clear about the relationship: sen.help is our founder Bupe Lumbeta's own venture, published here as proof of build, not as a client engagement. It was designed, built and is operated by the same one-person-plus-AI system Hidden Edge installs for clients, and it launches publicly in August 2026.

The challenge.

More than 1.8 million children in England have identified special educational needs (Department for Education statistics, 2026), and many of their families navigate the system with almost no support: complex law, missed statutory deadlines, and expert help priced beyond most households. Our founder lived that fight in his own family, and built the resource he could not find.

The build brief was the kind normally quoted to a mid-size agency team: a full brand, a content platform, an interactive assessment engine, a two-sided professional marketplace, data products covering every Local Authority in England, email automation, and a companion mobile app. The available team: one person, and an AI operating system.

What got built.

01

Brand and platform

Full brand system and a custom-coded WordPress theme, built via SSH with no page builders: guides, hubs, news, policy pages, all fast and accessible.

02

The quiz engine

A custom diagnostic quiz plugin that assesses a family's situation and routes them to the right next step, feeding a segmented email list through a CRM.

03

Data products

Report cards for every Local Authority in England, built from official government statistics, so parents can see how their area actually performs.

04

A verified directory

A two-sided marketplace of independent SEN professionals with a verification flow, subscription billing model and an architecture that protects families from fake profiles.

05

Email automation

CRM, segmentation and automated sequences, so every quiz completion gets a useful, personalised next step without a human copying and pasting.

06

A companion app

Jotla, a privacy-first daily record app for SEN families, prototyped on the web and now in native mobile build. The family owns every byte.

The build, honestly.

Custom code, no shortcuts

Every surface is custom-coded: the theme, more than a dozen custom plugins, the quiz engine, the directory. No page builders, no bought templates. That is the same architecture standard Hidden Edge applies to client work.

AI-native delivery

Research, drafting, code, testing and deployment run through an AI operating system directed by one person. Verification is a hard rule: every legal reference and statistic on the platform is checked against a primary source before it is published.

Where it stands

The platform launches publicly in August 2026. We will publish the launch numbers here as they happen, whatever they are. That is the standard this page holds every future case study to.

This is the demonstration.

If one person with the right system can build and run all of that, imagine what the same system does pointed at your enquiries, your follow-up and your pipeline.
